Present!
When I was a senior in high school, I made an appointment with my high school counselor, who also happened to be my Bible Teacher. He had been my Bible Teacher for three years and I really liked and respected him.
I remember coming into his office for my appointment. As a high school senior, I was both excited and confused about my future. I had lots of questions.
After I sat down and started talking, it must have become evident this was not going to be a five-minute conversation. Without saying anything, and without making a big deal about it, he quietly slipped off his watch and turned it upside down on his desk – all the while, never taking his attention off of me.
That one gesture told me everything I needed to know. It told me he was totally present for me and would be as long as he needed to be – time was not an issue.
This is what we see in Revelation – Jesus is present!
He came looking for John while he was exiled on the Island of Patmos.
In the opening chapters He was walking in the middle of the seven churches, watching over them, as He told John what message to give each of them.
As we see the seven churches span history from John’s lifetime right down to the end of time, we experience a beautiful invitation to experience Jesus’ presence! He said:
I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20, CSB)
I invite you to join us on Sabbath morning* as we being exploring the book of Revelation to better understand how Jesus is present with us always, right into eternity.
